How does your favorite beer stack up with the experts? Find out at: www.beeradvocate.com
They give Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout (which I listed above) a rating of 91. Some of the other beers people have listed in this thread:
Corsendonk Abbey Brown Ale: 88
Hoegaarden Belgian White: 88
Guinness Extra Stout: 86
Labatt's Blue: 71
And just in case you were curious, Bud Lite got a 61.
Originally posted by Frank BurnsI, too, love the beer that comes out of the Stone Brewing Co. (those hop-heads that created Arrogant Bastard and Dead Guy Ales). My favorite from their brewery is the Stone Ruination IPA.
In no particular order:
Steinlager
Grolsch
Arrogant Bastard
Dead Guy Ale
Hop Rod Ale
Most any Nut Brown or Stout
Back it up with a bourbon please
I just know some toothless bastard is going to say Coors Light. To him/her I say get back in your double wide and shut the curtain.
Originally posted by rwingettThe yellowcab WestVleteren is indeed my personal n°1. I doubt that many people around the world would be able to find it these days. Even in Belgium, I know only a few places where they still sell it. One pub in Antwerp (the Culminator - named after a very strong German beer) used to serve a 'vertical' of it, i.e. five different brewing years.

Originally posted by darvlayA 'double wide' is a mobile home, also known as a trailer here. Generally built cheap and not too likely to hold up to a strong storm. Texans live in them hahahahahahahaha (oh I'm gonna catch hell now!).

There is no such thing as bad beer, some beers are better than others though. Its true that Guiness is good for you, I much prefare it at room temprature rather than chilled. John Smith smooth is another beer that im partial to and again, I like it at room temp. Of the Lager type of beverage there are many good German,Belgian, and Dutch that are excellent, I like these chilled. The one that really stands out for me is San Miguel.
Originally posted by bbarrI used to like them malty, like scotch ales, but the friend who gifted me with the bottle has gotten my pendulum to swing towards hoppy. He likes 'em hoppy as hell! Thanks for the info and here's to you. 😏
