Guessing you yourself must have enjoyed your own childhood in some other way.

Adram, keep drinking until the meds are ready and prepare for your detox. We'll be supportive in the new year, if you manage it.

When I was a kid the little things made me so excited, a nickel raise in my allowance or hearing the music from the truck

of Old Nick the Ice Cream Man as he drove slowly up McCarthy Street hill, and I'm still pretty much the same way now.

Same for me except nowadays when I hear the ice cream truck I get a creepy "here comes that child molester" feeling.

My how times have changed.

When I was a kid, it rained, snowed or we endured intense heat everyday. We lived 50 miles from town, we walked to school and back everyday, often carrying huge sacks of flour, beans, rice and salt meats. We had no electricty or running water. The bathtoom was the back porch, the restroom was a small out building.
I had 14 siblings. We lived in a small cabin, then we won a contest...

When I was a kid, parents were parents and knew their job.

When I was a kid, there was such a thing as TV snow and we had to get up from the couch to change the channels.

Speaking of tv snow, when I take the time to notice, I see a "tv snow effect" in my vision. And in the darkness, it is more profound, like a negative picture of tv snow with glowing specs like stars. Even more interesting is if I get in the right frame of mind the luminous specs start to change colors. Purple, red, and orange are the most common. And if I can meditate on this long enough, the line of demarcation between the colored shapes formed by the specs and the visions I see in my imagination become blurred and when I imagine something it can sometimes take shape in my conscious vision of the luminous specs.

I once asked an opthomologist what he thought this negative TV snow effect in my vision was, and he assumed there is some kind of damage in my optical nerves. However, I don't see how it could be considered damage, since I can manipulate it and things take shape and intermingle with my imagination and subconscious thoughts.

Somehow, I think I am actually physically peering into my "minds eye" but just the surface of it. It makes for fantastic meditations and visions.

Does anyone else see anything close to what I'm talking about? And no, I'm not just seeing residual colors from the lights I saw before I closed my eyes. These things happen well after, even hours after, my eyes have adjusted to the darkness.

I don't remember much from my childhood but I know that we spent a lot of time playing outdoors, and our games didn't require anything but imagination - and a lot of kids. And there were many of us who were born during the 40's.

TV's hooked to outside antenna's actually show about 10% of the snow you see is from outer space, your antenna is acting like a radio telescope.

"Does anyone else see anything close to what I'm talking about?"

Yes. You've described this spectactular nocturnal event accurately. Happens randomly without notice. Always wrote it off as a quirkey malfunction of excessive fatigue, incorrect diet or both. Never occurred to me that others also experience it.

Wondering if your dreams are not only in living color but also sometimes sound and if you participate in the dialogues and are cast in subordinate or leadership roles. When I awaken in the middle of a dream (seldom if ever have unpleasant ones) the dream seems to continue without me. After answering Mother Nature's call I quickly resume deep rem sleep, only to discover the plot has unfolded without my help or presence. Now and then a next chapter of a dream will continue several nights later. Do yours?
