How about... The Road had been straight it's entire life. The Pawn had to cross it, just to let the road know that there is more to life than here and there.

Ummm... kind of a STRETCH. (pun intended)😏

Excellent avatar, Mike. Is that one of Phlabby's, or did you badger rwangler into doing it for you?

It is a most excellent gift from Mr. Phlabibit. He hit it to a tee, don't you think? A most excellent valley indeed.

He forgot the 60-mile-long semiarticulated flatbeds going faster than light......or are they just suffering from such extreme space dilation from our point of view that we can't see them?

😵😲 Oh, it's there alright! It does take a while to see it. A little lubricant helps also... I use Coors 30 Weight myself!😵

Yes! You caught the essence. The trick is not to look directly at it or it goes away. That is why the lubricant works... it keeps you from a good hard focus, you see.😏 It is much like why the pawn crossed the road. you don't want to grill the poor thing. It was just doing what pawns will do. Same with the 60 mile machine. We know it's there, but we don't want to break it's wave function by observing it.

Hey Mike, how's this for my master's thesis in a few years:

"The Effects of Tetrahydrocannabinol on the Ability of Standard Staunton Model Pawns to Interpret nth-Order Hermite Polynomials"

😛?

I dare you!😲 It might be worth doing, just to see how many fellow candidates and professors offer to do research for you. People who previously couldn't count to ten might show up with interesting proposals and solutions! Definitely worth putting on a back burner somewhere.🙄

Yeah....reminds me of Ike Asimov. He apparently wrote a parody of his own doctoral dissertation and published it in a sci-fi magazine. It referred to a crystal that dissoolved just before being dropped in water 😲.

You lost me on that one. <edit> I'm clueless... as usual. As per Issac ... he was 14 years old the first time he took a subway across manhatten alone. To try and sell a story to an editor! I myself cherish ten rejection letters received of John Campbell from stuff i submitted before I hit 16. One of the rejections ( though a form letter like the rest ) was even signed by him with a written scrawl... "Keep trying kid!"... I didn't. Might write a story or two before i'm done though. One never knows.😕

Judging by your posts, I'd recommend you give it another go.

If... and it's a big if... I can ever cut free from the demands and needs of my customers, i would enjoy giving it another try. I have a couple of ideas up the old sleeve.

Well... time for Monday Night Football!😠 Guess i'll go kick back with a couple more "Coors Heavy" and watch the game. Nice chatting. You must be real busy with school? You haven't been posting as much lately.

Enjoy. I haven't been posting as much since my parents separated a few weeks ago. I spend a fair amount of time at my father's apartment, which, as of yet, has spotty Internet access. I should be on more pretty soon.
