I just learned a very big difference in Canadian and American mail. Apprently Americans get mail delivered on Saturdays. ON SATURDAY! Can you imagine.
I couldn't imagine it until an American friend told me they got some mail from me on a Saturday. Over here in Australia the posties get the weekend off too. We should place ads in the American Postal Employees Union monthly newsletter - "Tired of a 6-day working week? Come to [insert appropriate country here]!"

Oh yeah, getting back to the original topic of the thread: boredom in between games. Surely this particular post demonstrates that.

First of all, it is the American Postal Workers Union. There is also the National Association of Letter Carriers.

Second of all, we get 2 days a week off too. It's just that not everyone's days off are the same. There are plenty of people in the employ of the US Postal Service who work on Sunday... their days off might be Tuesday and Wednesday, for example. Just because mail doesn't get delivered on Sunday doesn't mean the mail doesn't get moved around the country on Sunday. And, because all mail carriers get Sunday off, most of them have split days off, meaning their other day off might be Thursday or Tuesday. But the mail carriers are definitely not the only people who work for the Postal Service. In fact, a lot more people sort the mail, move the mail around a facility, and then there are the people who load the trucks and planes with mail and those who transport the mail from city to city.

Because I'm one of the ones who sort mail in my facility, I also have the distinct pleasure (ugh!) of working nights, so that the mail can be sent to the stations in the morning for delivery that day. I have often thought of changing crafts and going to the delivery side (and finally working days), but that means tossing what seniority I have out the window and starting over. At least I am one of the lucky ones with Saturday and Sunday off. 🙂
