All of your questions are simple. No discomfort whatsoever. Fact is you, unwittingly, did me a favor. How else would I have had the opportunity to publically express my thanks.

"None of the above, Andy. Two decisions are unrelated. First was prompted by a decision to expand my chess gameload to two other sites, Gameknot and Chess.com. Neither offer forum participation to non-subscribers. Second simply reflects my gratitude to Russ and Chris for five years of wonderful opportunity I otherwise wouldn't have had. Might add that Russ was particularly helpful during my sixteen months behind a serious medical issue moon. Another RHP Member, on his own initiative, came forward to generously fund continuation of my subscription directly with Russ at the time. Pay it forward. Pay it back. Take it for granted and go merrily on your way. Of no interest whatever what others have done or may do in a similar situation. Me and my household of one chose to do the thing (becoming part of Monty's Contest and this Christmas one) quietly with these salt of the earth people and these undeserved kindnesses in mind. That's all. Thanks for asking. Hope you'll participate in the contest by setting an example with your pick today."

Thanks.
I simplify the questions to enable you to provide answers, which you never do anyway.

By the way, you told me once that you paid for a five-year subscription when you signed on in 2007.
Why was it necessary for anyone to fund your membership while you were incapacitated?

Were you lying then, or are you lying now?

I've always tried to answer questions deserving of reply and to clear the air. Seamless five year subscription status to the extent that new payments were made each year. No other options are provided by RHP, nor would I have excercised them if there were. Refunds are a figment of your imagination. Help from Russ refers to administrative assistance during the transition betwesn email addresses as well as to a few months leniency to prevent loss of my avatar and profile photo, until the generous third party mentioned came to my rescue while I was on the rack at Whitesburg with severly limited access to antiquated computers. No lies have ever been crafted or told in private, much less openly in these forums. gb

This thread isn't being used the way it should have been.

Why would a user?

... feel compelled to invent multiple internet personalities, beyond the initial one required by every website?

... resign a stack of games to get a lower rating, to become eligible to enter low-level tournaments, to achieve the status of tournament winner among the patzers?

... employ an engine to win computer games in the name of the user, which is only an internet identity anyway?

"Just asking..

Why would a user who was unwilling to pay for his own RHP subscription renewal just last month now be
willing to finance the subscription of a total stranger? Could it be (a) generosity, (b) an attempt to buy a
new tender friend, (c) just another attention getter, or (d) all of the above?"-HandyAndy

Got the message. I'll try not to tarnish any of your threads ever again. Oh sorry, it was Handy Andy's thread, and of course you know what he had in mind.

Then I misunderstood what you said about your five-year subscription. It came up this summer when you were
agonizing over renewing for another year after being banned (unfairly, in your judgment) for spamming.

My apologies.

Demagoguing's always in poor taste. Your posts are both clever and welcome.

So he's having fun creating a contest and getting people interested. I don't see the crime in that.

Maybe the complaints would diminish if Gramps took up hardcore evangelizing! Fire and brimstone and all that. (can you imagine)
