As for states sponsoring terrorism. Do you ever reflect on the irish lives which american money paid for through the american's sponsorship of the IRA? Should the u.s. be bombed and invaded for sponsoring terrorism? You'd like that wouldn't you?

Originally posted by ianpickeringThe article you cite supports the assertion that the IRA generally did not TARGET civilians as you claimed. That they sometimes did is a historical fact, but I believe the actual targetting of civilians was done on few enough occasions as to qualify as rare considering the long time span of the struggle. Was the Allies' bombing of German and Japanese civilians in WWII causing over a million civilian deaths justified as part of the struggle against these regimes? If so, the number of deaths caused by the IRA pale in insignificance as compared to those deaths deliberately caused. People get killed in war that is inevitable, the British government could have ended the war at any time by withdrawing from Irish soil as they have withdrawn from most of their colonial possessions. Their refusal to do so means they are ultimately responsible for all the deaths in the war against their occupation.
Below is an article detailing the figures. 'Rare occasions' ? Targetting people just because they happened to be protestant? Bombing innocent men women and children on the mainland? NO EXCUSE
Do you approve of suicide bombimgs in Israel and elsewhere because 'occupied people have little choice'? Do me a favour!

The same principle holds true for Israel and it's occupation of Palestinian land. I do not "approve" or "disapprove" of the tactics used by oppressed people to resist oppression as I am in no position to judge what is necessary to effectively resist. It is within Israel's power to end their occupation and oppression of the Palestinian people in the West Bank and Gaza and comply with UN Security Council resolutions such as 242; their refusal to do so for over 37 years means the blood is ultimately on their hands.

Guys, I think we're getting off the topic here. This thread is about wheather Bush will invade serveral countries, not things about Ireland and that stuff. Open another thread if you want to discuss that.
And guys, leave Chance alone. We shouldn't fight like this among ourselves like this; RHP is a community. You should respect his opinions. I personnally apologize because I was agravating and arrogant.
Originally posted by abejnoodAs the rationale for any further invasions would be the "War on terror" and as the discussion centering on Ireland was focusing on whether it was justified for occupied and oppressed people to resist using "terrorist" tactics, it was very much on topic. "That stuff" as you so eloquently put it, is at the core of the discussion of the "War on Terror" and whether it is justified at all.
