How much might a previously owned guitar cost? Yes, I'm serious.

Edit: Always loved (especially the last stanza of) Dylan Thomas' "Fern Hill"...

Nothing I cared, in the lamb white days, that time would take me
Up to the swallow thronged loft by the shadow of my hand,
In the moon that is always rising,
Nor that riding to sleep
I should hear him fly with the high fields
And wake to the farm forever fled from the childless land.
Oh as I was young and easy in the mercy of his means,
Time held me green and dying
Though I sang in my chains like the sea."

Recently heard a seemingly savvy musicologist professor on some television interview show state that the guitar has always been a classic phallic symbol: the long neck, undulating curvature of the base and responsiveness of the digit strings. Never had heard that interpretation before. Graphically, guess it sort of made sense. Guy capture something or is he out to lunch?[/b]
I disagree, the guitar is female in nature. The curves of the body and the hole in an acustic guitar are definitive female archtypical symbols. The neck and head may be male to some degree, but the nature of the guitar is female. I have never ever heard a guitar called him, but I am sure there are those who reference their instument as he.
When played the guitar can sound mellow and sweet, raspy and bitchy, and can scream or even squeal.
Not very manly if you ask me.

First off, you can get an Esteban guitar for about 125 bucks.

It comes with a video to teach you some stuff.

If you already have a guitar, just google "Guitar Lessons".

Don't forget you need to have a tuner or know how to tune the guitar. It's frustrating to learn and sound bad enough when your guitar already sounds bad on it's own.

You can pick up a very basic one for next to nothing. Flea markets, charity shops or carboot sales often have them available and for a first guitar all you really need is that the frets are in the right place and the machine heads don't slip. If you enjoy it then get a better one once you're sure it's worth it. Or, like Phlab suggests, there are very cheap package deals thesedays, which offer guitar, some spare strings, a book and tuner and maybe an amp (if you choose to go electric). I would suggest your first guitar should be an acoustic because it teaches finger strength and control better; it's easy to get into bad habits with an electric, because they're easier on the hands and you can be tempted to cover bad technique with distortion etc.

I'd suggest not paying more than $100 for your first one.

a guitar is curvy like a woman. mine wares panties. it even has a sound hole.
but the upper half is called a neck, so its the neck of the female body.
so id say that a guitar is a female body. not a c--k
