Oh, say can you see, by the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, through the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

Makes my heart swell and my eyes misty every time I hear it, especially when I'm uniform. You won't/can't understand that, but that's excusable. I'm sure all nations have something profound about their anthems that stirs the heart....even the Welsh anthem...

O Canada is best heard while watching Patrick Lalime do his Stevie Wonder impression before a playoff game.

with all due respect to the star spanngled banner for its patriotic lyrics
the melody is an old english drinking song(like there is another kind of english song)

oh canada to me sounds more like a school song
you ever notice all these songs suck in general??
i mean the words may inspire ,but there are no guitar solos,
drum solos etc etc??? i say we put the words of the star spangled banner to the music of metallicas "One" now that would kick ass man ........ whoooot woot \m/

Johnny and Jimmy would have done a great Haydn. Adolph could do lead vocals. George could mine background vocals. What a gig! Amthem of the millenium

Nah it's "Waltzing Matilda", that's the greatest anthem, Mate.
