Even though a little battered and bloodied around the head and
shoulders, decided that God might still have a purpose for my life.
So took the red eye to California and checked into the same ward
as Ms. Spears. First evening she said, "Notice you have blond hair
too." One thing led to another then I said, "You ever play chess?"
Coyly she answered, "Now, Grampy, isn't that a bit personal... duh?"
Anyway, the week went by quickly and was pleasant enough. Nurse
Goff came by about noon with the news that we were both released.
One cured. The other incurable recidivist back to playing with threads.
