actually.. one other question. do the people that share this computer use the same user id? sometimes simply clearing the cache should be always done first, but.. I assumed shared workstation meant different user ids, which I believe would be separate cache locations, so didn't mention it.. .but, if all using the same user id, it doens't hurt to clear the cache just incase.

when in internet explorer - click on tools - internet options - then the button that says delete files. Then click OK on the popup box asking about offline content.

I appreciate all your advice and help. The main problem with many of these suggestions is that I don't have the security clearance to change many settings (but neither does anyone else, which makes me think that they weren't accidentally changed).
