I like both of these. Very elegant.
However I was well aware before this debate of the possibilities surrounding non-standard pawn promotions.
Neither of these are knight promotions with checkmate, although one forces it very elegantly. In both cases to promote to a queen (following my generalised advice) also gives a winning game, the promotion to kn ...[text shortened]... of course.
Now I am going out, as this is like arguing about which is the 'best colour' ! 🙂
Black to move and win
Also, I might add... green is the BEST color, FYI!

He's from England and therefore spells it properly. 😕
Also, I saw some comedy thing with a guy who had an English accent doing some bit. He had some Americans come up to him and say, "Love the accent!".
He replies, "I'm from England speaking English, you're the one with the accent".
Funny stuff.. but not as funny as a baseball in the crotch.

Wow, all this debate over a number? Fine. Zonko The Sane, as I am sure this has confused you, know that you should premote your pawn to a queen in probably 90% of your games.
If anyone wants to dispute this with me, take it to the debate forums...
I refuse to enter that other forum you mention. 😕

The point is, always check for the best move when promoting a pawn. You may expect the queen to be the best, but do some thinking before you blindly throw a queen in. View my last post where a user said a queen would have been fine in either case. They were wrong.
