this does bring up an interesting challenge - to checkmate with minimal piece loss ...

i propose that the number of pieces of BOTH opponents should be added up with the traditional point system ... (it is easy and boring to eat all your oppponents pieces then mate) ... so optimal is to never lose any of your own, nor eat your opponents ...

further ... more moves should be a good thing ... an extra point per move played ...
