Well done everyone.
While I know that not all our entrants are serious photographers, I think it's great that people of all levels enter. The following comments are purely constructive, and hopefully will help some of you take better snaps in the future. You are of course more than welcome to disregard my comments if you wish. 🙂
Blue:
B1.Something Borrowed : I don't quite get it. The chairs are a little out of focus, and it seems as though the focus may have been on the wall. Try not to cut off pieces of your subject (like the leg of the chair). Also, my eyes keep wandering to the outside space, as it looks quite nice.
B2. Ascent : Nice shot, but slightly lacking a subject. Sometimes it can be hard to capture the panorama as the eye sees it. I love the clouds in the left.
B3. Blue Beads : Technically great. Nice composure.
B5. Sky : Nice shot. To adhere to the rules of thirds and to make the bird more prominent in the shot, I'd tighten the crop a little so that the bird is on the meeting point of the bottom and right third.
B6. And then... Nice shot. Love the dangle of the bear. I think I'd have liked something not blue in the shot, like a white peg, or something.
B7. Coast : Nice use of the rocks for natural framing. I just think that it's very difficult to shoot in conditions where there is a lot of spray/fog.
B9. Equanimity : While the centred horizon and subject works better in this shot than in most, I think you could lose a little of the sky to bring the horizon more to the top third. This would also increase the boat in the picture.
Red:
R1. Berries : I can't see any part of the image in focus, so what may have happened is that you went closer than your camera's minimum focusing distance.
R2. Red Glow : Lighting is quite harsh from the blitz of the flash.
R3. Red Hot Music : This type of heavily post processed shot normally does nothing for me, but this one works.
R7. Help : Love this shot, but does it need the bottom part? The horizontal line cuts the image, unnecessarily in my opinion. I love the contrast of the sharp red with the dull/gritty grey.
R8. Red Boxes : Would have scored higher except for everything being out of focus.
R9. Red Strat : Technically very good. Nice use of background.
Yellow:
Y1. Dandelion Springs : Lovely shot. Suffered a little in my voting because of how unreal the post processing makes the shot. I know that from that angle, I should be looking at blue skies, and it niggles.
Y4. Lemon Tree : I don't know if your camera has auto selection for focus, because it's after focusing on the background instead of the lemon tree.
Y5. Nasturtium : On really bright sunny days like the one that this shot was taken on, you need to shade or diffuse the bright light. I sometimes do this by simply standing so that my body throws shade over the subject. As it is, the yellow subject and the wall has been blown because of the direct light. Because the leaves are fine, it may be that you exposed for the leaves, so maybe you could expose (ie: focus lock) on the flower, and then recompose.
Y10. Pollen : Great shot. Technically perfect. Great composure.

Nice round. Comments later.
Ok, here's my novel and votes. One thing I would say is I have a problem with over saturating images, particularly if it seems to be merely to accentuate the theme. Just a personal thing thought it will probably affect my votes. I think it's important to find something in the shots to complain about even if they are great so I hope people read these comments in way that I meant.
Something Borrowed:
I like the title but don't like the focus (though actually it might be camera shake, I'm not sure). I like the subject too as it creates lots of question about the room, the people and why they aren't there.
Ascent:
Nicely obeys the rules with the top of the ridge about where it is supposed to be and the sky does look very blue. Personally I find little to actually grab me about the picture though apart from the cute clouds.
Blue Beads:
Certainly interesting as I find the cloth very nicely done. For me though, I think I might have left out the beads entirely though the title wouldn't make a lot of sense afterwards.
Blue Storm:
I Struggle with this one because I really don't like the post processing though appreciate that many people would. It's hard to know how much of the shot is real which in itself isn't so bad but generally doesn't fit in with how I see the RHP photo comp.
Sky:
Very nice exposure with this one. Few if any blown bits and the white clouds are actually white which is often easy to miss. The lone gull does add something to the shot but I feel I want something more out of it.
And then she dropped me in a puddle:
Great shot, nice composition and funny which is always a plus point. There surely is at least some kind of colour work to get everything blue despite what it says in the title. Apologies if this bear really is blue though.
Coast:
A nice shot though it might have been nice to have a big wave crashing at the moment the shot was taken. Again though I'm not sure if the blueness is real, subtle colour enhancement or incorrect white balance. Nice shot on the whole though.
May I present:
A lovely composition in my view and a nice idea. The light seems a bit harsh to me and maybe an evening shot might have been preferable with maybe even some fill flash on the statue. Again, for me, saturation seems to have been bumped either in camera or in post beyond realistic levels which ruins it for me but other than, I think it's a good one.
Equanimity:
For me, again, the blue rocks suggest aggressive post processing or scary white balance issues. I like the wide format though feel the rule of thirds would have been usefully applied here.
Berries from my Yard.
Nice idea and delicately done. Maybe an even tighter crop , removing the branch and the bits of green leaf top and left of frame, might have improved the shot even more. I like that the berries are not perfect though do have a slight issue with the focus being slightly behind the from of the image. I liked this one.
Red Glow:
A pretty idea and a difficult subject. Was flash used here because the lighting is a touch harsh. Perhaps a flash gun would assist. Would have been great to have got the decoration in sharp focus with the tree blurred though can appreciate that this might have been a tough to achieve.
Red Hot Music:
Well, notwithstanding my comments about a personal distaste for over saturation I have to say I love this shot. There's little I can find to moan about except the slight loss of the guitar right of frame and I'm not sure about the square thing in the background at the top of neck. However, great angle and great effect.
Dusk:
I find it very hard to get past the adjusted colour balance. sorry. If I saw that colour out of my window I'd run for the hills. Please don't be offended, this is just a personal view and for many, the colour will be lovely.
Highland and Water:
Fun though busy. I am concerned about the crop though as I find bits cut off at the edges somewhat a concern.
Rose:
Lovely composition, great depth of field and a nice lighting choice. Touch too much saturation for my liking though. I find this often happens with flowers.
Help:
Great shot, great subject and well executed.
Red Boxes:
really not sure what to make of this one. It's the kind of shot I like but I'm not sure here. The selective de-saturation doesn't make the boxes more powerful for me, they just make them red. Perhaps a tight crop on the guy with the boxes or perhaps leaving the colour as it was. Don't know but it IS an interesting street scene.
Red Strat:
For me this shot is good enough to start really complaining about the lighting. Firstly though, great composition, spot on focus, perfect background and interesting crop ratio. Normally I wouldn't mention these things but the shot is so good, i feel compelled to. I think the shot is ever so slightly under exposed and the white part of the background suffers a touch as a result. I would love to discuss how to light this, perhaps, getting rid of the stray reflections and shadows as I think there is a top quality shot in here.
Red Trash:
Lovely idea and good fun. Perhaps it might have been worth considering the composition a little more so that the window/door frame could be removed from the shot. Having said that, maybe others like it there.
Heart Implant:
Looks over saturated again to me though perhaps it isn't. Many cameras over saturate red all on there own. It seems a tough colour for them. Fascinating picture though and a good title.
Continued......
Dandelion Springs:
I'm not sure it's fair to try and comment on the photography instead of the post processing except to say I really like the unusual composition. Good pp too.
Finger Food:
Funny! Maybe this should have been in the red category.
Flower:
For me the yellow channel is blown in rather a lot of the shot which I personally find distracting. I think the focus area is slightly off too and I'd like to have seen more contrast in the background. Still it's a nice tight crop and definitely a pretty flower.
Lemmon Tree:
Another funny one though the focus is on the wall not on the lemon tree. I find this a real shame as I think this one could have been a really nice shot.
Nasturtium:
I like that the flower in in the position it is and the general composition works for me. The flower is blown rather badly and I wonder if spot metering might have been helpful here. For me, the leaf shadows are too harsh and a bit of flash down there might have been good.
Ocho Rios:
Really good shot. Great scene and nicely taken. My first impression was this was sun light on the buildings but I guess they are just yellow. Good one.
The End:
Nice idea but again, some really harsh shadows that a bit of flash, or no flash might have helped.
They call me Mellow Yellow:
I'm glad you did post this. It's a good shot and a composition I am interested in myself as I have done a few like this myself recently. I feel at least one part, even a really small part of this kind of shot needs to have sharp focus. I have no problem with a razor thin depth of field but I do feel something needs to be clear. I wonder if you had considered back lighting? If the flower is lit from behind with either flash or natural light the colours can really come out. I like this shot.
Weather Warning:
Classy composition and very sensitively done saturation work. Technically very good too in my view. Subject itself leaves a little to be desired for me but the shot is done well enough to it all to work well anyway!
Pollen:
Lovely. Would like to crop off the blue background on the right though admit that might unbalance the shot. Did you use a macro lens with this? Might have been nice to get a really narrow depth of field. Very nice though,
