Karpov was on series 8 but I've never seen it, perhaps the BBC will make it available at some point.
My kids don't normally sit through ANY dvd without yapping endlessly, but they seem totally engrossed whenever I put this on.

Can anyone tell me what time the games begin?

I'd like to watch the games streaming, if possible.

I'm US, eastern standard time.

Thanks!

They usually start at 2pm UK time i think, so i would imagine they will be playing in early hours of morming, were you are. I dont think were getting any tv coverage in UK so i be watching over the net.

The matches start @ 3pm Indian time, which I think is 10am UK time, 5am EST, i could be slightly out though

here's the tournament's home website, where I presume you will be able to watch the games live: http://chennai2013.fide.com/

full schedule (inc. rest days) are shown here: http://www.chessvibes.com/anand-carlsen-three-weeks-until-game-1

Looks like I'll be able to watch quite a few of the games.

I watched the Anand/Gelfand match on the official site which had some nice big name GM commentary. But I prefer to watch the game on a chess server with live chat from patzers like me, as well as the GM stuff. So what's the best free option?

Thanks for the info on the 3pm start in India.

I'll probably just set one of the world clocks on my phone to Chennai time to keep it simple.

I'm hoping for some fireworks!

If you're going to use chessbomb.com then make sure you install "stop domi" to filter out the idiot patzers:

If you're using Firefox then you'll need to add Grease Monkey first.

Cheers.

A lot of the silliness that goes on in chat during these events are half the fun.

Although it's good to be able to block the twits who want to tell the world what their engine thinks of the position. Haven't these guys got games they should be cheating in?!

Remember we will have our own Anand - Carlsen game going on
that we cannot talk about. That should be fun.

29 classical chess games have been played between Carlsen and Anand and of which 20 are draws, 3 wins for Carlsen while 6 games Anand has won. Carlsen has never won a classical game against Anand with Black pieces 😲
