He has beaten Gms and he has beaten the guy from Searching For Bobby Fischer... I was wondering if your chess teacher is a IM or any other highly ranked title. I was also wondering if anyone ...[text shortened]... s teacher has a cool chess story like beating a great player or anything like that.

Just know (by accident): from the chessfm sessions during the Amber tournament three weeks ago, where he was a guest commentor, I remember him speaking about being the only 2500+ player in Ireland.

Wow...you people are so lucky to have someone to coach and guide you. The teachers in my school barely know anything about chess...🙁

Well I play for a club and some of the players in the mens team are rated 2200+ (FIDE ELO). Some of them have beaten IMs and GMs.

They have some stories like how One GM lost not to the player but the National coach's laptop, cos they prepared it beforehand by checking the GMs games from the laptop Database.

Another question I had in mind: Do clubs help you become better?

definitely, clubs are better than the internet I think.

ps whoever mentioned Baburin, he gave me a few lessons a couple of years ago but it was via the internet so it didn't work so well, mostly nasty endgames, and going through games I had played. Very helpful!

Example:
Bab: what were you thinking when you made that move?

me: errr umm like I dunno

Bab: well, try to think, try to remember and then when you do remember, don't ever think like that again.

Hilarious!
