Yes, it is a stategy but will it work? I play Pc3 often in rapid games. It is called the van Geet opening named after a dutch IM who was rather succesfully in the years '60-70'. Also called the sleipner attack. There's is a closed version Pc3 d5, e4 d4 or open Pc3 d5, e4 dxe4. see more games at chessgames.com.

With solid positional play, I've clobbered Vlad on several occasions. Vlad's alleged rating is 1846, and my box is a P4 3.4 GhZ with 512 RAM. I don't use CM X much, and have only played a few games against "personalities" higher than the vampire.
