Of course! Engine vs engine will be fun!

I've sent this as feedback already, but just to see what your opinions would be.

I know that some people I've previously played have wanted to play a chess computer, and a lot of sites offer this, by allowing people to create accounts with a (C) next to their name, indicating that the account is a computer account.

There would be no need to play ...[text shortened]... there that much of a difference between this and using a computer?

Discuss ^_^...

Iv'e said this before in other threads but I will say it again here,if you want to play a computer you can do so without allowing them as pseudo players at RHP.If I want to play an chess engine I will buy one and play to my hearts content.I am here to play real people with their own ideas of what the next move should be.If they allow it somewhere else, fine,go there to fullfill that need but not here please. To make it acceptable is to give the cheaters an excuse, twisted I realize, but valid i'm sure in their minds. And yes there is a huge difference between using books and chess engines, with books you still have to think .My opinion of course.

If you personally don't want to play a chess engine on here then no-one should be able to force you, that's my point, although some people do, and so they should be able to get what they want too 🙂.

I don't like computer players. They're a bad bunch.

With due respect. It is not what Russ wants. He is quite clear about it in the TOS and has reiterated it in the General Forum-see" Fritz8 computer"thread.Mike

I can understand people wanting to put their engines to the test, but please not at RHP. RHP also stands for Real Human Players. I have absolutely no desire to play against a computer. And if I did, I wouldn't need to subscribe to RHP. It is the idea that there are other "RHP"s all around the world thinking about the games being played that makes the experience worthwhile.

Any introduction of computers onto the site will compromise the integrity of the rating system.

As things stand computers are against the spirit and letter of the rules, period. So are multiple accounts.

If there are sites that welcome computers, go there.

I don't think computers should be allowed to play chess. Just do your taxes and play blow/shoot em up games. Computer players at RHP are like sheep farmers in cattle country. I'm for organizing a posse and rounding them up right now. Savvy?

I think there is room for computer accounts, here on rhp.Just look at the intrest Feivel's games vs the engines, has generated. This could be a great place for developers,to test their engines. It would also be handy to play some games against various commercial programs,to help decide which one to buy.And some people will simply think it fun.
RHP once had a 'housecomputer',I think it should be re-instated.An automated engine, could provide games for the fast movers and MAP racers,so they never again have to sit idle.
However, these engines should not be allowed to enter tourneys, nor clans, absolutely nobody must be forced to play them!.Non-automated engines, should also play unrated only.

Sir Lot.
