If he choosed to play it I suggest trying it on the net first and learning some lines. (there are LOTS of them)

Seriously! The opening is not easy and I am far from knowing what to do in most cases but when you win a game like the one I showed and you draw a game like the one I played Kyo one can only feel happy... I have another game where I started playing in the jazz style (no book, no knowledge) from move 9 in tournament play! I will look for it...
My experience with the Gruenfeld dates back from a couple of years ago and is in no way at the same level as my French that I have been playing for about 20 years...
