Thanks for the observation, analysis, and exclamation mark, Geoff! Naturally I saw white's threat and responded appropriately. My opponent deserves credit for his 'cute' attempt to win. For me - a bit disappointed that I was up a piece but could only draw.
I have your book. If I can figure out a way to get your autograph in the front cover, I'd do that. Do you know Natasha Regan? I had her send me an email pic, printed it out, and stuck it in HER book ('Game Changer'😉 so maybe.
It was many years ago when I read 'Master Class'. I don't remember anything except - and I am being honest - that I found Ian Mullen's section on endings to be the most useful.

HI,
On the day I was at Durham (see blog) which was a spur of the moment decision,
Natasha Regan was at the Edinburgh Club giving a lecture on 'Zwischenzug.'
By all accounts it was very good.
Yes Ian's section is excellent, and his other book 'Brilliancies and Blunders' with
Mo Moss receives a lot praise. It's a pity he died so young. He was one of those
rare things, a good chess player with a higher in English writing.
The book was updated and Danny Kopec asked me to add to my section
'Tactics and Combinations' to cover internet chess.
I used games and positions from Red Hot Pawn and had the idea of making
it look like a post in a chess forum. It did not quite work, but has to be tried.
Ian's section was left alone.
PM me your email and I'll send an autograph and dedication for you to paste
in your copy.
