When it comes to the Kings Gambit, ask Korch. He plays the KG a lot and is probably the best at it at RHP. Believe me, he is your man.

I'd like to see some top player games in that opening without searching like crazy. To bad there isn't some database thing on here.
http://www.playtheimmortalgame.com/gamesexplorer/index.php?a=1
seems only half or so of mine are on there.

I know not all the games are on there yet.
Maybe these top players can post the games on here. It would be much easier for them to find their own games then look through their games.
I know I have all my games organized by opening in my rhp folders.
Gamesexplorer was due to have been updated several weeks ago but Chris User 4 said he was having some problems with it.
That's the last I heard.

But in my opinion Falkbeer counter gambit is not sound - at least its main lines. For example: 1.e4 e5 2.f4 d5 3.exd5 e4 4.d3 Nf6 4.dxe4 Nxe4 5.Nf3 Bc5 6. Qe2 Bf5 7.Nc3 gives white much better play. Here is one well-known game which shows black problems in this line:

Perhaps black should try 3...c6 (instead of e4).

Bit harsh, Korch.
Leko lost to Kramnik playing the Ruy Lopez - does that make the opening unsound?
For most mere mortals the Falkbeer is a great way to counter-attack the KG.
In game Kramnik - Leko way to draw was found after the game very fast.

8...Bf2+?! Preventing KS castle
9.Kd1...0-0
10.Nxe4...Qxd5+
white to move
It would need a cool head for white to not make a mistake. He must be flustered & this treatment is definately not what the KG player wants.
I may try this if someone follows the white side of the 3...e4 main line, but 90% of the time I get 2.Nf3 😛

4.d3 exd3 playable for black?
And no i'm not causing trouble like last time 🙂
Just curious, seems like an interesting gambit.
Originally posted by RahimK4....exd3 is no good. after 5.Bxd3 (5.Qxd3 is also good) white will keep their extra pawn or (if black plays 5...Qxd5) will get serious lead in development.

Originally posted by Golub. e4 e5 2. f4 d5 3. exd5 exf4 4.Nf3 transposes into Modern defence (1.e4 e5 2.f4 exf4 3.Nf3 d5 4.exd5). Its not bad defence against Kings gambit, but its another story.
There is also the 1. e4 e5 2. f4 d5 3. exd5 exf4 branch.
White still gets his half-open f-file (eventually), but this at least steers the game into different play than what a KG-player is used to. The question is how this branch continues..
Originally posted by KorchThe Modern defence? Can you give any example of a game that continues into the Modern from there? I thought the modern had something to do with g6, etc.
