When Fischer played Spassky in his "comeback match", Kasparov said Fischer was playing "okay" and at a 2600-2650 level.

How many years ago was that? Fischer will not have improved since then.

Fischer wouldn't win a single game against Topalov.
Look at Topalovs games at the WCC - right now this guy is incredible!😲

fischer smischer ... you might as well demand a match with Capablanca or Morphy ... fischer might have been in their class if he was lucky ... certainly none of them are in the running now, they can only win by no-show and timeout..

what matters is :

KASPAROV and KRAMNIK and SILICON

everyone else is out of the race ...

Topalv has proven himself against all except these three.

Topalov is at the peak of his career and has just beaten the best in the World, one after another! Fischer was and is a chess god(edit 😛), but he's not World champion material any more (at least one would assume not after such a long lay off!!)
I very much doubt Fischer would lose a match against Topalov in random chess. Fischer's tactical mind and his 188 IQ to solve systems and numerical values is superhuman. He still can solve those 15 square number puzzles with his fingers in 10 seconds nearly. Tactics involves mental gymnastics, and Fischer is perfect at such a "random" chess fight. On the other hand, I believe if Topalov played Fischer in a regular match for the World title, I do not see Fischer coming out on top. So, the score is this... RANDOM CHESS: Fischer wins. REGULAR CHESS: Topalov wins. Topalov is too up on his theory in contemporary opening theory and nuances. Fischer could only hope to win a few games from him in those circumstances if they had say a 10 game match.

I don't think Fischer's turned into a demon. He's more like a god who's done a bit too much in the way of hard drugs creating a loss of mental capacity and craziness.
That poor schmuck.

At this stage Fischer is irrelevant to world chess and Topalov (if the offer were really given in writing by Fischer) would ignore it.

Not true at all, why wouldn't Topalov want to play Fischer at random chess. Think of the publicity and money involved in such a match. Also you don't know for sure if Fischer has lost his touch. But we may never know for sure.

Fischer always had a rather tenuous grip on his marbles. Even that has been lost since he stopped playing professional chess (look up his comments on 9/11 or Jewish people). I can't see how he believes he could mount a credible threat to any current super GM.

I want to play Topalov too. I think I have about the same chance as Bobby Fischer does.

At least if Topalov were to hold a simul in the US you could go without being arrested.

Hello??? Take a guess at Topolovs IQ! He ain't stupid, that is frickin obvious. He is the best the world has to offer at the moment! Kasparov might beat him if they played a match right now, but NO ONE else, full stop! Anand is VERY close, but no cigar. Fischer simply can't come out of a 30 year lay off and beat this guy, there is absolutely no chance of him winning. He might take a game or two off him, sure, but Topolov is as sharp as he's ever going to be right now. Look at his games dude, he is pushing the boundries. He is close to be the best ever, give him 5 years and he just might be!

Maybe Topolov can study for the match with Fischer by reading the classic chess book "How to beat your dad at chess"....
