Jusuh has played 40 rated games of which he has won 33. This makes you wonder why his rating is so low. After a short time thinking the obvious conclusion is that that's just a sign of the people he has been beating on RHP. Given the way ELO ratings works this has to be the only conclusion. After a short run on his rating graph and a look on some of his n't palyed that many games for a rating system that is statistical in essence to be correct.
in a nutshell: "woulda, coulda, shoulda..."
another thing about his rhp games. it's not like he's having a huge rating climb, instead his graph is very stable.
Originally posted by wormwoodHe can't be playing many 2000 RHP players if he has 33 wins in 40 games with a 1600'ish rating. In my post I didn't want to talk about psychological reasons for him to be just 1600 (lack of effort, etc...) but just the mathematical explanation. The way ELO ratings are made it is impossible for a guy that has 33 wins in 40 games just to be 1600 unless most of his games are agains lower rating opposition. On my quick check on his rating graph there were a few 1600 sure but most of the players were on the lower ratings. That's all I'm saying.

But of course I agree with your main point that is that CC and OTb rating doesn't have to have a high correlation.
Originally posted by adam warlockyeah, naturally I agree with the connection between winning percentage and the rating average of opponents.

Originally posted by wormwoodYeah! It's Saturday afternoon and I got nothing better to do so I went to his graph and saw all the opposition he has faced so far. Put the numbers on SigmaPlot and told him to calculate the average. This is what I got: 1394,8462. So naturally one can't hope for him to measure up to his OTB rating were I think he's facing mostly 1900+ guys. By the way dop you know what happened to jusuh? I miss his Carlsen roasts.

oh, I see he's done very well in the national blitz championships. didn't make the finals, but there was a tournament for the people who were left out, and jusuh came in 2nd! no wonder he's racked up all those points. his score +14 =5 -4. not too shabby against opponents ranging from 1900-2200. average rating for players was 2026.

265 voters is laughable for a site with thousands of members. There should be at least 2000-5000 voters and they should choose 10 game mods. Why nearly 10 forum mods and only 3 game mods when very few uses the forum but everyone plays?

If you're going to accuse me of being a cheat, just say so.
I've told the truth since day one and if you bothered to analyze my games like you said you were going to, you'd know I don't cheat. If this is your pathetic way to try and get more votes than me, it shows a total lack of integrity that disqualifies you from consideration from a ...[text shortened]... for me to change their vote and vote for cmsMaster - his ego obviously needs the stroking.
What I said didn't have anything to do with getting votes, it had everything to do with making the voting public aware of the facts.
As far as me not having an OTB rating, I've addressed this: I'd love to have one, it's just very inconvenient for me to find rated USCF tournaments where I live. This fall, when I'm at OSU I'll surely have many more opportunities for rated OTB games.
Originally posted by ludzThat's an interesting point, the game mods have often pointed out that more doesn't always mean more efficient though.

Originally posted by wormwoodIt does not make sense to have 10 forum mods for 50-100 people and 3 game mods for up to 100,000 people. They should at least choose the 5 as that is more than 3. 3 is too small.
