You would think after playing the same dumb moves over and over
against the same strength player would begin to show how bad they
are eventually but you see them playing almost the same game

Why do some people seem to not want to learn anything about this game? Sometimes I review games of really, really low rated players and I see them doing the same stupid things over and over again. Yes, he is truely astoundingly bad at chess, however he is reading chemistry at oxford and is possible one of the most intelligent and knowledgeable people i have ever meet, with an IQ of 150 or so.
I suspect he has more important things to learn than chess.
