Try opening with E5 against E4. Your C6 opening if fouling you up at the moment. By doing so you also give up the center of the board and don't have the proper knowledge to counter it. Also you don't have to religiously castle right away. Use the tool your opponents are probably using against you, Your recent game database!!!. After each game go back and review what when wrong and use the game history to try a different approach.

Every so often, I find myself playing a position like black's after this...

and then I just lose. I mean, the position is obviously completely indefensible, because none of black's pieces can GO ANYWHERE. But what happened here? It's ...[text shortened]... eloping heavy pieces straight into threats, etc. etc.?
How do I stop doing this?? Help?
