Keep playing against players you know you will beat - when the good players do catch up with you they will not make the mistakes you are used to and suddenly the game becomes very difficult.
If you play around your own level and maybe slightly higher you will notice a better improvement.
Always check. It may be mate!
Play for cheap threats, and hope the opponent doesn't see them.
Immediately play a move that looks good at first glance. Don't give it further thought. Don't look at any other moves.
Concentrate on your own plan. Pay no attention to what your opponent is doing.
Don't scan the board for checks and captures before you move. Do NOT look one move ahead.
Centralization: keep moving ALL you pieces towards the centre. Maybe try to get your Rooks in first. They are most effective if placed on d4, e4, d5, e5.
Start with a winning game plan: as soon as the clock is running, try to think of a winning game plan first. Please try to predict all your opponents moves, before making you first move.
Play extremely wild gambits: a lot of people advise to play gambits as it will increase your attacking skills. Sac as many pieces as possible. Your gameplay should increase drastically if you are still able to win.
Try unusual openings: 1. f3 e5 2. g4 ... is one of my personal favourites.
Learn to play real chess: positional chess. Try to keep all your pieces close together without ever opening up the game. Look for the smaller advantages in the game and ignore promissing tactical continuations. Tactical play will never lead to anything.
And before I forget: practice, practice and practice some more. Keep playing > 1.000 games at the same time (time control < 1 day) at all times.
Good luck!
