I won a game and thought it was interesting. So I let Stockfish analyse it. From move 6 it listed every move as bad and gave me an accuracy rating of -5%!!!
In another game I came up with a brilliant 4 move checkmate. Stockfish looked at it and said, "It doesn't work - he could have defended. Also, you had a better move - checkmate in 1" 😲
Instead of learning from the chess engine, I just get depressed at how much I suck at chess 😢
Being serious now - I find chess engines help spot tactical mistakes, but their positional suggestions are just bewildering. I can never make sense of it.
Although Stockfish saying my play was so bad my accuracy was negative did sting 🙁
@Wyn-Davies saidThere are lots of things you can do better than a chess engine. (Make a good cup of coffee etc).

@Wyn-Davies saidA chess engine is a tool, not an end in itself, so don't worry about it. People have become strong G.M.'s without them.

If you want a real assessment of your games, you'd be better off with a good coach. 🙂

They will be thinking a lot of moves in advance assuming the best responses.
When I first started trying to improve my game,I got a book on games which explained the reasons for the less obvious moves.I don't suppose engines have such a feature
I now and then went through games with an engine and some tactical mistakes or oportunities were quite evident. If I can't see the advantage of a suggested better move I shrug it off when the difference is small (say 0.2), that is probably beyond me any way. If there ios a big difference I try to follow thoughto see weher the point is, sometimes I get it sometimes I don't...
@venda saidYou are 3 wins 3 loses in our last 6 games, but you have 11 wins only 4 loses and 3 draws in 18 games. I have been working hard in improving my game, but it is only in the last 6 games that I feel on par with you. I always found you to be a tough opponent.
