I remember seeing an actual game where the player had to
under promote to a Knight, thus having 3 Knights (and a King)
v a lone Knight (and a King) - no pawns. and winning.
It was one of these positions where the King and the Queening
square were Knight forkable so taking a Knight stopped the
Knight fork. That's about all I can recall on that one.
Not got my database computer switched on so cannot dig out the game.
(if it's on there - have 3 million games, so it should be).
Went through the few beginner books I have cannot find original
quote. None mention a 3 Knight mate.
The Rev Cunnington - anybody got his beginners book?
Wonder if long ago it was thought impossible, though that site made
it look straight forward.
Anyway it's 1:30am here - I'm off to bed. See if I can dig out that
game tomorrow (tonight).
I have a film crew coming around my house on Thursday to film me
and all my chess sets - I'm gonna be a star!
