I bought one chess book by Eric Schiller and it's rubbish! I'd take anything he says with a pinch of salt. Sure, players less than 2000 will play these openings badly but when they're up against similar ranked players who will play the white side just as badly, does it really matter?
Now that you mention it I have 2 books by him that I picked up at used bookstores and neither are worth the cost of the paper their printed on.

Avoid these books (based on my opinion)

Kasparov's Opening Repitoire
IN The Complete Opening Repetoire for Black he recommends the Schevinigan vs. e5, which is most of the book. I forget what he suggest against d4. Maybe the Greunfeld?
