When I originally signed up with the card it only took two days to become activated. I doubt it will take much longer than that for your subscription to be processed. Nice to meet you, Feivel. Send over a game whenever you've the time.
bbar,
That would be fine but there really is no chance for me to win anything besides the game. You see the most likely outcome is that I will subscribe here within the week (quite possibly within the next 2-3 days). If you want, I will send a challenge to you ASAP (when a slot opens - you are the first to get it) or when I get my subscription active. If I ...[text shortened]... etition) for me than I thought possible. That does it, I will subscribe sometime this weekend 🙂

Bennett,
I paid a few minutes ago. When my subscription becomes active, how do I know. Is there an icon somewhere on my home page or am I notified by email? This way, I will know when I can send the challenges out and when you will need to send yours. Unless you lower your challenge filter i can't challenge you. I will also sign up for a tournament as soon as I can.

Suffice it to say 1640 was a pushover 🙂
I do play a lot and I have actually lost most of my games against players in the 1200 level!
Some higher rated will not play newer player until they have a profile of played games so they can analyze them first. I started to play our games as blitz since I was playing in excess of 130 games at time. This is a poor excuse, but once I really paid attention to our games, it was too late! Unfortunately, I have offended few players because of it.
Once I know that the player is much better than his or her rating, I will take my time for the moves.
I think there are few 1700, 1800, and even 1900 level players who would not consider me as just a push over! LOL 🙂
Even though, I am not even close to the standard of the players in the top 20!!

Harri,
I was not put off by our games. As a matter of fact, it was obvious you were preoccupied and you even told me you were a MAP. To be totally honest, your friendlieness (thats gotta be misspelled) was one of the MAJOR reasons I subscribed so quickly. I have found nothing but friendly people here and most everyone is up for a game anytime. Seems in the next few months as my tournaments on IYT wind down, this will be the ONLY site where I play chess (besides email of course). I am glad I found this site. Let me apologize if my "brashness" in this post offended anyone. It was not meant to and it's intention was to only find me some competition that I find enjoyable. Well, the post hit it's mark and I am certainly enjoying the resulting games. I don't want anyone to misunderstand, I enjoy the game and I am not looking to win ratings points. I will win (I hope) but I will not be afraid to lose. Never will I turn down a challenge because the challenger is rated too low. If I do turn down a challenge it will be because my gameload (is that a word) is to large. This is a great site and my start here has found me some great competition.

you're impressively prodigious! a RHP map, grad student, family man, and gainfully employed. please don't tell me you do volunteer work too.
🙄
game quality varies with the amount of time spent analyzing. one does not make conclusions based on one observation point.

The Players Championship (TPC) willl be here in Jacksonville in three weeks, I do work on the event as a volunteer for the University of North Florida's accounting club, Alpha Sigma Pi (by the way it is the highest ranked undergraduate accounting club in the country as an average during the past ten years!
TPC pays the accounting club instead of paying theworkers!

I think a lot of the top players will refuse challenges from people who either don't have any losses, don't have a profile, aren't pawn stars or haven't posted in the forums and allowed other people to get to know them. It's nothing personal, but these days correspondence chess requires a certain level of trust between the players that they're not using programs to make their moves for them. But you seem to have chosen the best route, posting messages rather than just challenging the top players without any explanation, and joining the site and writing a profile. Now when people see that you don't have any losses they'll assume that it's because you're a good player and not because you're a cheater! 😏 Anyway, welcome aboard, and best of luck!
