na , no fear i dont earn enough for the inland revenue to be practically bothered about me, never the less you need to develop your pieces, towards the centre, one game as black you opened with the rather dubious, but never the less original, 1...Nh6, which may be fine when facing a computer to get it out of its opening book, but it breaks the rules ...[text shortened]... ch are development towards the centre and struggle for the centre, it does none of these things.
Opening principles as I learned them
-move 2 (central) pawns but no more and not just any combination either (c-d; d-e or e-f are good)
-develop your minor pieces, knights before bishops is the rule of thumb
-castle
-don't move the same piece twice unless forced (in order to evade capture) or you can capture an enemy piece. But THINK before you capture! What will he do next?
-do NOT attack too early!Develop your entire army before you go off doing anything else. This means the queen leaves the back rank to connect the rooks AND the rooks get developed to better squares.
When this is finished you can start looking for ways to attack.
These are guidelines, not rules carved in stone. If the need arises you can and must break them.
One final tip: when castled do not be too eager to move a pawn in front of your castled king.Ever since chess was invented that has been the source of many crushing defeats.

Yes it is ANNOYING
Ajuin took the time to give you some very sound advice.
move 2 (central) pawns but no more.....
develop your minor pieces, knights before bishops is the rule of thumb.
Yet the very next game you play this is your Black position after 2 moves.
And earlier on I watched you making 3 moves in 3 games with less than a minute a move.
Good chess players do not so this.
SLOW DOWN there is blitz site, go there and blitz.
In your proper games you must take your time. You have 3 days.
So let's get you sorted out.
In your next game with White after 10 moves and 10 days I want to see
the two Rooks looking at each other.
So...
...I want all those pieces off the back rank and the King castled so
the Rooks can see each other. It's called development.
And in this special game you will make just one move a day.
(if you need the full 3 days for a move - OK with me.)
If you can transfer the board to a real set and move the bits about
or use the on site analysis board.
I'm giving you 10 moves so you can handle any threat that Black kicks up.
This threat can usually be dealt with by a developing move.
Note: this does not give you time to start making any half assed threats
of your own.
So don't go thinking about anything else untill you have the two Rooks
staring at each other along a clear back rank.
Then you come back on here and post the position.
Then if you stick to the one careful move a day plan and actually stop
and have good look at what your are doing. You will find it's much fun
to play with all your army and how difficult it is to lose if you are
fully delveloped.
Of course if your opponent is a nutter and throwing pieces at you,
take them but do not retaliate or make any move that is not a forced
non developing move.
You have 10 precious opening moves to get developed use them well.
I'll be watching.
and don't sulk, Remember your first post.
"I was wondering if some kind soul who's amazing at chess wouldn't mind
helping me improve my game...."
It looks amazing but it's all done with develoment.
The two Rooks looking at each other 9 moves.
And then, and only then does the fun begin.
look at the final postion - count Black's undeveloped pieces, count mine.
I make it 4-0
