I used to love following Scottish football when I was a kid. The paper I read used to give the number of spectators and I never tired of seeing which Scottish second division game had drawn the smallest crowd. Also, as far as I could ascertain Scottish teams seemed to play without goalkeepers, so their scorelines were spectacular!

If you follow through Chandler Cornered you will see I've been
to a few of these games.

I don't just follow the mighty Hibs. I go all over the place to see
really bad teams. But I'll be at Easter Road tomorrow.
Put money on a draw.
Maybe double it with Hearts to draw also.
I make quite a bit of money on football bets. I go for correct scores.
pick 6 games. predict the score, then write:

Perm any 3 from 6 (20 bets at 5p a bet = £1.00) plus 20p roll up.
if three come in you are in the money. If 6 come in....🙂
I won over £27,000 with that bet in 1992.

Recently I've been using a 'Lucky 31'.
Pick five games - predicts the scores. You are covered for Singles,
Doubles, Trebles, four folds and a roll up. 10p a game, the bet cost £3.10.
I do three of these a week.
Won £34 & £17 last week.

These thread drifts are good.

The drift is good now...though I am fighting the urge to slam scottish footie. The only thing that keeps me in check is thinking of the "MLS" here in the states.

Wow, £27,000. It wasn't for the fact that you're a man, already married, ugly as sin and have no doubt already drank away the money at the Sandy Balls, I'd propose to you.

I play chess with a guy who won £20,000 at bingo, but he had to split it with his common law wife. They hated each other and could afford to break up on the proceeds.

I've only bet on the gee-gees and, my big weakness, cards. Now that I'm married, and hence penniless, I do neither.

what you talking about, James 'faddie', McFadden - folk hero, if they can erect at statue of Bon Scott of AC/DC in fife then they should erect a statue of James McFadden somewhere in Stirling castle, just beside the one of Robert Bruce

It's all gone now - gave a chunk to my brother.
Done up the house, had a smashing holiday.
Bought a chess book.....

James 'faddie', McFadden is a clot. One flukey goal against
a duff french team. Huh! He cannot get a regular game for Everton.

This thread drift is over - OK Robbie you pick the next subject.

I tend to agree. Thought he was awful against Iceland the other night. Fluked the goal. I'd have had KM (for want of a better striker) on a lot earlier

PS - Plays for Birmingham now. McLeish bought him in Jan

Hmmm that explains why he cannot get a game for Everton.

Putting £5.00 on Liverpool to beat Man U. tomorrow.
Liverpool are 9/5.

Here is how you work out what you win.

Multiply the first odd by the stake (9*5)=45
Then divide by the second odd (45/5)=9
Add on the stake 5+9 = £14.00

Been playing normal C.C. chess. posting here and Site ideas and
playing blitz here and now on uchess.

Keep winning with Black with this daft idea against the Danish.
Have a whole scad of quick Black wins both here and there at blitz.

I'm Black.

Liverpool are 9/5.

Here is how you work out what you win.

Multiply the first odd by the stake (9*5)=45
Then divide by the second odd (45/5)=9
Add on the stake 5+9 = £1 -c2 Ng8-f6 5. Bf1-d3 Nb8-c6 6. Ng1-f3 d7-d5 7. Bc1-e3 d5xe4 8. Be3xd4 e4xd3[/pgn]
You'll win £9 and get your £5 stake back. Something tells me you're taking the piss. Your formula works, if you do it properly at a glance though.

My money's on Liverpool (not literally, because I don't really care) = think they're probably stronger right now

I'm not taking p*** (added 9+5 as 13 - corrected it).

Often asked how to do it - 9/5 is easy.

Aldershot are 23/10 tomorrow to beat Luton. You need
the method then to work out a win for £5.00 bet. (£16.50)

I know, a typo,- I corrected it on my original post.
(did it my head - don't want to use a calculator - might get called a cheat).

As well as not actually being an OTB International Master, Weyerstrass has only been a correspondence IM since 1990:

(Unless he has the title from a different organisation).

There must be over 800 IMs in that document!
still, by the way, being a cc IM back in the 1990s should be much more difficult than being one today.

Today, with time, good hardware and the right engines, I got the impression that any OTB expert could become a CC IM.
