However...

Dave is not to be confused with Archibald of the Archibald Gambit.
That was Sally Archibald one of the very few woman players who has
an opening named after her.

I do not wish to open (yet again) another debate about
men v women and chess.

But I cannot think off hand of any opening that bears a woman's name.

Anybody got one?

Correct, but if we are going so far back in time then the original
name of the Queen's Gambit was The Aleppo Gambit
which was the birth place of Stamma (1705–1755).

I guess more men were playing Chess when the openings were
being catalogued.

Who ever came up with the idea of naming the openings was gifted.

If not then the covers of chess books would look quite hidious.
