Game 2645640
Originally posted by BedlamI was so proud of that move, it may be the best move I've ever made (Sad really 😀, I liked it because it was more a positional move than a tactical move), definitely the best non-CC move. Of course, I wasn't looking at the best line when I made the move.
Thats more painful than the one I lost to you, at least you won with a brilliant move....although my position wasnt fab by any means.
Spanks the stupid opening over and over. 😛
I played the Scandinavian for a while in bullet and had OK results. I played 2...Nf6 and a lot of times they would try to keep the pawn with c4, so I would go into the Icelandic Gambit, which is 1. e4 d5 2. exd5 Nf6 3. c4 e6 4. dxe6 Bxe6. I have switched to 1...c6, (Caro-Kann) and am having better results.

I remember earlier in the year when my leg was in plaster and I was off work for 3 months and had little to do during the day but things related to chess (+ I had no interent access for alot of this time - no spending hours on RHP). So part of this time , I went through many many Sveshnikov lines, writing down the notation for various possibilities, I ...[text shortened]... the right hands but I just thought it didn't lead to the most exciitng Sicilan positions.
Which responce have you settled on to e4?
Heres CMSmaster handing me my ar** in the opening. 😛

I've decided I'm going to start playing the Open Sicilian as white too. Anybody else use it? I'm sure the theory isn't light, but apart from the Dragon and Sveshnikov it seems white gets on well with ideas rather than lines.
BTW:33.Re6! is the move that I was so proud of in that game, Bedlam didn't bother to mention that he was playing at 5AM, or that I checked an opening book to see if c3 was really the right move. Around this time I had been planning on taking up the Svesh so I knew the lines pretty well, but I had forgot if c3 was the mainline.
Originally posted by Sicilian SmaugYou think it's more complicated than the Dragon? I used the Najdorf at the beginning of my chess development, and at that time theory wasn't important and I got on well with ideas, but I'm sure it's much harder at high levels. Have you been memorizing a lot of theory on it?
I have settled on the Najdorf for the time being but it is clearly the most complicated of Sicilians and I do have a bit trouble dealing with the N/ B for 1p/2p sacs that occur in many of the lines that I encounter from some of the strong players on this site, in some of my games recently I've been trying the Classical Sicilian, which is a bit less treacherous for someone of my ability.
Originally posted by Sicilian SmaugI mean OTB as well, so DB is out of the question. I do agree that the game is far more enjoyable for both sides. Although the Grand Prix is pretty fun overall.
I always allow the open Sicilian as white and enjoy every line that black may play. Use a database with any line you are unfamiliar with, all possibilities tend to be far more enjoyable for both sides than the closed, I think.
Originally posted by cmsMasterRg6 was the killer move. I totally missed it the 2 min responce to that was mainly me thinking "f***"......bit shell shocked after that 🙂

Originally posted by cmsMasterI tried the Sicilian Dragon but I found it very hard to play. My opponent's attack would always be quicker than mine. I probably wasn't playing it right.
