I am clearly in a good position and very near a checkmate, however my opponent 'David Maskill'a refuses to move. Its been about two weeks since my last move and hes online right now playing and has been this whole time!

I'm guessing he is doing this to save his ranking.

What can I do?
Will it just end up being a draw if he doesn't move?
What will happen to our rankings?

Does he play within his thinking times?
Yes? Then what's the problem?
No? Then time him out and collect the win!

He doesn't have to play everytime he's online. He can think as much as he wants, until the skull shows.

You did both aggreed of the thinking times (3/7). He who exceed his thinking times lose the game.

I still don't see what's the problem?

Ok cool, I see the thinking time duration at the bottom of the game.

Apologies to David, I'm quite new to this site.

That is quite alright.

I'm sure most of us took a while to find our feet on here.

I recall the first time a wee yellow skull appeared I had to ask for Forum Help.

(it a warning there is a trap in the position, don't touch it!).

This is how I react when my opponent repetedly mails me and messages me, that I should move faster: Negatively!

First time I inform him politely that I move as fast or slow as I want.
Second time I inform him, less politely that if he persist sending me these kinds of messages, then I will put him into my ignore list so he cannot continue messaging me.
Third time I put him into my ignore list after telling him that I do so.
When the game is over I remove him, of course. But if he instist that I'm doing wrong, then he will find himself in my ignore list, this time permanently.

This behaviour is however very rare.

I find this kind of repetedly messaging about how I should move in my part of the game very annoying and harassing. I'm glad that RHP system provides a counter method as a protection from this - the ignore list.

This is my feelings in general, and is not a pointing finger in any particular direction.

if there's one thing you can count on after sending such messages, is that your opponent will go out of his way to drag the game for as long as possible. the same usually applies to any kind of negative attention, unless you actually know the opponent likes it. most hate it.

Did you know that you can untick the box "Enable move reminders from opponent" under your E-mail settings? No more move reminders at all.

If you want to play faster games, change the settings when starting a game. I like to play 1 day + 3 day bank.

I don't think it was that kind of messages "Product Placement" was sending.
I never read reminders, I never give reminders, I just click the skull when I see it.
And, yes, my checkbox is unticked.
