We have had "players" like this before. They lose every game - falsely giving points away (often to their alter egos) and then I presume use an engine in a sub 800 tournament. Its abuse of the system.

I have noticed a pattern that players with a lower rating actually seem more able to spot the mate in 2. Higher players either fail with d5, or follow e5 with baffling moves like Nf6 or Ne7. WTF?
