Game 3297560

I think i play the opening pretty much perfectly, construct a very nice attacking position up to about move 14. I then get impatient and push the pawn too soon and lose a rook but co-ordinate my pieces nicely, take a walk with my knight and finish with offering a rook sacrifice.

Moves 15 & 16 are very poor but its a nice attack and a good win against someone who was about 250 points ahead, im chuffed.

Thanks for the advice about the immediate d4 push, i dont know my ruy lopez theory well so i wanted to support the d4 pawn. I didnt really think it was perfect, I was just very pleased to come out with the strong pawn centre strong without my opponent making any glaring blunders and i put 'perfect' hoping for feedback 🙂.

Love your sacrifices in the game you posted on the previous page though.

I once was a Ruy Lopez player and I remembered the line. If 4...exd4 then Qxd4 is probably best. 3...d6 is not common because of the given line, better is 3...a6 and 4...d6, making 5. d4 impossible.

This was a recent win for me against a stronger opponent. A pawn sacrifice gave me a rolling center, a later knight sacrifice probably should have been accepted, leading to at least material equality.
