Sometimes people ask how to pronounce certain chess terms, like en passant and en prise.

Here is a list of chess terms and personalities and their pronunciation by Bill Wall.

I warn you though: Max Euwe can only be pronounced correctly by Dutchmen and Flemish people ...... 😀

It is A-LYO-HIN with second stressed syllable. No "k" there.

If people want to know how the Dutch vowel "eu" in "Euwe" is pronounced, please visit:

http://www.stanford.edu/~sipma/proexerc.html

and listen carefully to : " deun dreunen steunde Teun ".

You'll find it in the "word box"(first sentence) at twelfth place on the left below "Now Pronounce correctly:"

The vowels aren't too bad, some of the consonants I can't get a handle on. Thanks for the links.

Whatever...here's yet another source:

"Alexander (Aleksandr) Alexanderovich Alekhine (Al-YEKH-een) was born on October 31, 1892 (Halloween) in Moscow (October 19, 1892 on the Russian calendar). "

You tell me how it's pronounced.
