A sad day for Russia, but a chance to see Kasparov on telly... even if he is getting arrested

If this post doesn't belong in a chess-only forum, neither does the first one.
I think the fact that Kasparov is being detaned by state thugs is germane to this forum. I've known Russians all my life, and they're tough to the point that stuff like the PR protest wouldn't bother them. The only overly sensitive Russian I know is Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, who is very sensitive to any criticism of his power base. I hope he isn't beaten severely in detention.

Despotic oppression and a two years of work for three law-breakers are two different things. This case is irrelevant to the issue of freedom in Russia. The outcry is ridiculous and obscures the real problems. I really don't think this is the right place for this discussion so I will stop here.
Possibly the greatest chess player in the world has ever seen is thrown
in jail and people are wondering if we should discuss it in a chess forum?
Where else?
Now there is no way I am agreeing to anything what has happened to the
girld band or Kasparov.
However each country has laws that differ from ours.
I've never been to Russia, I don't know what you can and cannot do in a
a Russian church.
Maybe the girls were poorly advised and this was a publicity stunt that has gone wrong.
(or right, perhaps this was meant to happen - Pussy Riot are guaranteed sell
out shows when they do the world tour.)

Apparantly very little.
Kasparov knows the rules.
He also rarely does anything without a plan.
I've not worked it out yet.
Possibly a book on games played against the guards.
He will call it.....My Persecutors 🙂
(I doubt very much anything will happen to him inside he is far too famous.
and it is only for 5 days. I also expect the girls to be released very soon.)
