very nice idea! but i still think black can hold onto a draw.
1.Nc6 Qxd1+ 2.Qxd1 Rxe3 3.Qc1! Rxc6 4.Qxe3 Re6! 5.Qc1 Nf6 6.f3 Kh7 7.g4 g6 8.h4 Ng8 9.f4 Ne7 looks like a pretty tough nut to crack how would you continue?
However, I think that white should better play 9.Qc8, before black had a chance to forbid that with Ne7. The queen attacks the a-pawn, holds the f-pawn covering the rook, and would punish Ne7 with Qf8!. Can follow, for instance: 9.Qc8 Kg7 (to prevent Qf8) 10.Qd7 Nf6 11.Qb7, attacking both a- and e-pawn covered respectively by rook and knight g5 12.hxg5 hxg5 13.Kf2 and next, the queen will come down again via the c-file and go to f5, forcing the black king to h6. Looks like a clear win for white to me. Of course, this is just one line. Perhaps black has better responses.

i can keep comming up with various defensive possibilities, its certainly not a tactical win and anything more in depth requires a computer plus i'm way too tired to think about this.

black pieces need to be active only if he is trying to win. if he will settle for a draw than creating a fortress leaving only the king mobile is the best plan. see my posts above. also white can't create a break in the center so he must do so on the kingside therefore its better to have another kingside pawn.
White doesnt want to break the center.......create the weakness on the edge of the board. I wouldnt seek to play on the kingside......blacks king/pawns can support the knight and rook whites king/pawns dont support the queen. For me the a+b pawns are the place to start chipping away along with the isolated d pawn. I cant really see the knight finding a secure square queenside, the queen can happily zoom around and queenside play seems to suit it better than a rook+knight combo.
Originally posted by VarenkaIsn't your line good enough to win? 13.g3 Nf5 (probably the best) 14.Qg8 and g4 will follow soon. The black pieces will not be able to keep the fortress, and then the queen should outplay rook and knight.
I think Black can hold a draw. My best analysis line (with engine help) is:
1. Nc6 Qxd1+ 2. Qxd1 Rxe3 3. Qc1 Rxc6 4. Qxe3 Re6 5. Qc1 g6 6. f3 Kg7 7. Kf2 g5 8. h4 gxh4 9. Qf4 Nf8 10. Qxh4 Ng6 11. Qg4 Kf6 12. b3 Ne7 13. g3
I don't think White can make progress. Any improvements for White?
