Tournament 140
Funny how all the players in the final round were banned.

He shot up from 1200 to 2000ish and was playing those "amazing" CM10 moves 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 3.Nc6 3.d4 cxd4 4.Nxd4 Nf6 5.Nxc6 lol and the rest of them. At least IM31's Junior was a little harder to see but not much......all the same without JW im really not sure if they would have pulled their fingers out.
The people who joined when the Game Mods were in place have no idea how it was like pulling teeth to get the Site Admins to finally put in a Game Mod system.
James Woodley, BTW though he was only one of several who was outed as an engine cheat in the public forums.

Several RHP users have jumped from 1200/1500 players to 2000+ players so it must teach them well.
Originally posted by MctaytoI believe that the removed players list has gone because it left the site's owners open to law suits as they were, in effect, saying that a player who was 3b'ed was a cheat.
Where did the removed player link from the site map go ?
In most cases this is not a problem, as very few people use their real names as their ID on this site. However if someone has used their surname as their ID (to pick a completely hypothetical example), then displaying their ID on a publicly viewable list of people who have been kicked off the site for cheating would be a clear case of defamation of character.
Hopefully now that the list of removed players has gone the new games mods will be free to boot anyone, whether they use their real name or not.
Originally posted by Fat LadyThat's ridiculous; Playchess for one routinely states that "Player X" has been removed for engine use. If you seriously think that a defamation suit against an INTERNET CHESS SITE under those circumstances wouldn't be found frivolous, you don't know very much about law.

Originally posted by no1marauderwouldn't you still have to deal with the lawsuit, possibly hire a lawyer, even if the case was laughed out of court? the site being international probably wouldn't make it any easier either. - chessbase is probably big enough corporation to already employ legal staff, so it's probably a little different for them.

Originally posted by wormwoodForget it; believe what you want. The "removed players" list has been up for 2 1/2 years but now, all of a sudden, you people think that it was deleted for legal reasons? Whatever.

Originally posted by no1marauderI'm not forgetting anything, but dismissing the legal costs as a 'ridiculous' just seems unfounded. I don't know why the page was removed, but I'd like to have it back as well.

Originally posted by no1marauderWe don't know why it has gone as nothing has been said but "legal reasons" is certainly an option.

The site owners clearly do not want to be sued for defamation so it is a perfectly logical suposition. Of course there may be lots of other reasons also.
I would like the list back but its absence won't reduce my enjoyment of the site.
Yeah, being a game mod, I don't even know why it was taken down, but I doubt it has to do with legal reasons, at least the "defamation of character" idea. It's one thing to claim defamation of character if RHP is somehow wrong, but if you cheat, and are caught, then it's not defamation of character, it's the truth. Murderers don't claim defamation of character if they make the 5 O' Clock news do they? Stupid analogy, but I feel like it drives the point home. 😀
