You did absolutely NOTHING wrong, and your opponent owes you an apology.

You are clearly a reasonable guy, and an educated one, and some of the adolescent insult on this subject should just wash over you. You are correct that the issue of ethics are not always synonymous with the rules of the game.
However, you must accept that someone enforcing a rule of the game (the right to timeout, regardless of who is ahead, or how reasonable this seems) cannot be judged for this. I can give you thousands of examples from GM chess, and sport, where rules are enforced despite the 'ethical argument' you rationalise being considered.
To name one classic - the shortest GM game ever played. Here on move 3 of an official game, the white player accidently picked up his bishop and placed it on c3, instead of the knight. Clearly this is an illegal move. His opponent enforced the rule of the time, and made him replace the piece and move his King. This lead to a one move forced checkmate. This is not a morale victory, or a particularly palatible one. But it was a lawful one, and not a commentator in the house kicked up a fuss, and more importantly - neither did the loser.

I accept that the issue of timeouts can be debated maturely. But the answer is the same. Find an internet computer (as I did when mine played up) or accept that you unintentionally break your contract with your opponent, and he may time you out without the slightest morale judgement being laid upon him.

YOU are a prick. Maybe you can convince your mommy and daddy that you REALLY won the game, it was just a technicality. Just like a delay of game penalty is a technicality in American football.

The game is define ...[text shortened]... addressing your points, you lying prick. You are not only a crybaby, you are a liar as well.
Wow, talk about the pot calling the kettle black!

Throwing stones in glass houses!

And other cliches to describe this amazing post of hypocrisy and denial.

I guess you don't like people calling you on your unethical behavior.

And I notice you still have not challenged me to a game. Scared? (Your settings won't allow me to challenge you)

You took a win you clearly did not deserve, without taking the sportsmanship and courtesy to message me. Online correspondence chess is not the same as live in-person chess.

I look forward to destroying you again, this time without mercy. Everyone else will still get ethics and courtesy from me. You don't deserve it.

As soon as the flamers on this site (dpressnell, tomtom232, etc.) apologize to me, I'll apologize to sprice18.

Unbelievable that you would suggest I be removed from the site, when there are others posting here with really appalling insults and language, FAR beyond my calling sprice18 an unethical prick. Once they are removed, I'll happily remove myself if that is what the community deems appropriate.

Since you were the first one to cast an insult (toward your opponent ON A PUBLIC FORUM), it obviously seems appropriate to me that you should be the first to apologize. Unless, of course, that you think that you did nothing wrong by calling your opponent an "unethical prick." If you DO believe that you did something wrong, then you should apologize whether or not anyone else apologizes.

Here we go again..

MOMMY, I INSULTED PEOPLE AND THEY DARED TO RETURN THE FAVOR. MOMMY, IT'S SO UNFAIR, I SHOULD GET TO INSULT PEOPLE AND THEY SHOULD KEEP QUIET AND IF THEY DON'T KEEP QUIET I'M GOING TO CRITICIZE THEM FOR INSULTING ME.

I don't remember you asking me to play a game with you, you prick.

And now that you are asking, I refuse. I don't play with unethical pricks who slander people without reason. And I certainly am not your slave, you snot nosed little boy, where I have to do whatever you tell me to.

Buddy, you start swinging, you better learn that people are going to swing back. YOU are the one practicing hypocricy.

Go to hell, prick.

The prick won't apologize, because (get this!) somebody called him a prick. Even though he condems the behavior he displayed WITHOUT CAUSE, and sees that people will give back IN KIND.

He's a hypocritical prick.

If he hasn't yet convinced you that he's an unreasonable prick, just wait, and he will. He's that stupid.

Prick. It might help if you dry your tears on your mommy's skirt.

Would you care to explain why you deserve any respect or courtesy at all?

I cant' wait to hear this...

Oh, so you only do the right thing if others do so first?

Not surprising, given that you make agreements and then insult someone for daring to hold you to them. That's truly unsportsmanlike.

I'd like him to show what appalling language there is that is "far beyond" his calling sprice18 an unethical prick.

I bet he doesn't have the guts.
