Is there an empirical formula that could be used to convert RHP ratings to ELo.

Thanks

Thanks
Yup. Subtract 32, then multiply by 5/9.

I'm sure I've used this exact same joke before.

Using that formula, the top players on this site (2400 RHP) would be only about 1315 ELO...

that cannot be right when you consider there are some players on here that are international players/masters.

And anyway, RHP is CORRESPONDENCE chess, whereas ELO ratings are for OTB chess.

Sorry. My bad, I got the formulas mixed up.

Its actually:

Multiply by 9/5, then add 32.

RHP uses the ELO system to rate players. How close the match up is to FIDE ELO ratings is the subject of numerous threads. Since they measure different skills any given player's rating is liable to be different between the two systems.

That's rubbish also.

The top players on this site (2400 RHP) would then have ELO ratings of 4352!!

That is ridiculous...(no offence to any of the top players on this site btw)

And as I said before, RHP is for correspondence chess, whereas ELO ratings are for OTB chess.

You still got the equation wrong, that is the equation for temperture conversions. To convert from RHP to ELO, subtract 273.15
