sometimes traps pay off...
even higher rated player fall for them...
Game 2152635
EDIT: I too am also prone to traps :-(
If I set a trap and my opponent doesn't fall in the trap making my position be worse than before, it is not a good trap.
A trap setup with a move that is not bad if the opponent doesn't fall in it but is winning if he does, then it is a good trap.
In a clearly lost position it doesn't heart to set up a trap and disguise it well with a sacrifice or something. I've won couple of times but I cant give any example of it.

Game 2443719
After 12 moves, one pawn down and bad positioning.
But then set up a pair of nasty lil traps from move 16, and found my way out of it. Not a great game, but some sweating here.
other ones: Game 2399375 , Game 2351961

Try Kasparov v Topalov, can't remember the year/event. Kapa sites it as his greatest game. THAT is one serious game!!! It is the closest to chess perfection i have ever seen... 😉
