Bedlam certainly seems to do well with it.

As a relatively new French player, I wouldn't mind some suggestions on combating this line. S ...[text shortened]... 1. e4 e6 2. b3 b6 3. Bb2 Bb7 Great book, btw; thanks for the recommendation Zebano!
So many people in the clan quote that book that I finally went out and bought it. It just happened to be just as the 2nd round of my USCF corr tournament started 😀 More than anything else though, I appreciate the expanded repitoire against the exchange.

I posted what I consider the best anti-french earlier, the Reti Gambit.
1.e4 e6
2.b3 d5
3.Bb2!?
White often gets the pawn back if black accepts, and in any case will get a raging attack by means of g4 and O-O-O.
Very little theory, and I doubt French players know what to do against it.

I say against the french it is A GOOD TIME FOR A GAMBIT e4 e6 d4 d5 e5 c5 c3 Nc6 Nf3 Qb3 Bd3 cxd4 cxd4 Bd7 o-o Nxd4 Nxd4 Qxd4 Nc3 and you know what they say pawn for position.
I'm looking forward to trying the Alapin Variation: 1 e4 e6 2 d4 d5 3 Be3 de. White's plan is to continue with Nc3 and f3.

I perfer the Caro-Kann over the French. The French isn't bad though; I used to play it. I just perfer the CK because you don't have the bad white squared bishop problem.
