the solution is ...
1.Be2! with an even game (i never said "white to play and win" 😉 )
this is the reason why i like this puzzle 😉 you're almost certain to trick even a very strong player with that !
In fact it's much harder than apparently complex queen sacrifices...because it's a psychological trick !
Didn't you think it was just a little bit too obvious?
1.Nxe5? is just too tempting and topical to resist (i got tricked too, of course)
Bxd1 2.Bb5+ c6 3.dxc6 Be2!! 4.Kxe2? (a bit better : c7+) Qd5! 5.c4 (the point of Be2 is 5.cxb7? now loses to Qb5+) Qxe5+ 6.Be3 000! 7.cxb7+ Kb8 8.Kf3 Qf5+ 0-1, was the end of the game Goldenberg - Chevaldonnet, 1982
Originally posted by shorbock3...Be2!! is indeed an impressive rejoinder, but you conveniently failed to mention that 4.c7+ is not just 'a bit better' - it's the only move!

4.c7+ Bx 5.cd Rd8 6.Be3 and we have:
White has a slight positional disadvantage, but is he really losing? I think not. If not, 1.Nxe5 only deserves ?!

I don't know about you but after 3...Be2 4. Nd3 I still like White's position
By the way the solution spends far more time on the non-solution than on the actual solution 😛
Tries are OK [i.e., spending time on non-solutions], but the main solution shouldn't suck.
