Some people may think this is a very insignificant discussion, but at the point in the game when a pawn may be promoted, it is quite possible that one or both players may be under time pressure. This has turned into a very NON-trivial discussion for people who participate in OTB tournaments. Thank you for all the inputs from your experience and knowledge!
