Hi
And I cannot believe I am going to do this, I am going to defend a computer.
Wormwood says the game is rubbish and Heinz 2 -" neither displays some
impress the newbies GM 2800 level."
Totaly agree that Black played sloppy and it does not look like 3200 chess.
(what ever that is - infact how would WE know what 3200 looked like?).
Black got it's Queen into a horrible mess most likely due to the horizon effect.
A decent Human would spot that at a glance but the box must have figured well in
advance - pawn up this is OK.
(more proof that it must be good players who use these things to get the
benefit).
But what was White to do?
If your opponent plays below par then often you have to play the only
moves (or moves) that take advantage of this. And if they are unimaginative
and dry. Then so be it. No choice.
(I've looked for a sac-sac mates but with half a heart. Surely this thing would
have found them.)
Think this was posted to show the limitations of Rybka rather than show
how good Toby was.
It takes two players playing well to produce a good game of chess.
Heinz you have to say sorry to Toby.
Originally posted by greenpawn34I have downloaded a PGN from their site with a bunch of Toby - Rybka games.

Rybka wins a few times, many ploughboy draws, my comment was based on that.
OK Toby won this game so we say all White moves were 3200 level (they won), but what was Rybka doing in the meantime?
Originally posted by WulebgrI'm not sure about the word ploughboy, it showed up in a translation program - yes I used an engine for it. I liked its dubiousness so decided to use it 😛
I gotta remember that phrase. It's brilliant!
In Dutch we might call it "betonschaak" - concrete (the substance) chess
I thought about "farmer's chess" but that doesn't really purport its meaning.
I was thinking of the Ukrainian farmer (e3xod?) who calculated out Gruenfeld - Chigorin 1907 to a win where Grunfeld had resigned
White to move and win
Hi WW
Yeah.
I bet you a £1 to a pinch of dog dirt I'm going to regret that one.
The boffins are going to throw that right in my face.
Well if that is Rybka at it best, then bring it on.
Hi Heinz
Am writing latest article for Scottish Chess. Am going to use 'ploughboy chess'
(not crediting you) 🙂 I am a plagarist.
Got anymore good ones? What is Chandler Cornered in Dutch?
Originally posted by greenpawn34It seems better to me without inverted commas nor credit
OK.
Line now reads.
"And 21...Rc8 is 'ploughboy chess' (thank you HeinzKat).
A move so bad that after it was played the Rook got up and walked off the board."
Happy Now?
Then Eddy Summers will google this Ploughboy chess and first hit will be RHP and will accuse you of plagiarism & engine use and you will get fired from the magazine too
That sounds like a better plan to me
Beautiful.
No wonder I could not get it.
I was trying to prevent Black from stopping White Queening.
But toiled to find a use for the g-pawn.
All those underpromotions to stop the Bishop mating.
Then the 4 Knights getting out done by the lone Bishop.!
Gijs van Breukelen you say.
A work of art.
How on earth did he come up with that idea.
Thank you.
(I am not re-writing that line again - publish and be damned!)
