He can and it's incredibly complicated after Nxe4+

Most definitely. Afer Nxe4, the d8-h4 diagonal will be available for Black's Queen and White will later have trouble from the Knight on c6 and Black's light squared Bishop. I haven't looked at any databases but it's probably losing for White after Bxf2.

On my database 5. ... Bxf2+ scores 22.1%, 6. Kf1 is the most popular reply scoring 18.1% and 6. Kxf2 the next most scoring 29.3%. However as you follow the line through after 6. Kxf2 white's score starts to improve in white's best line until the score is 50% after about 10 moves (although by now we're down to 10 games so the statistics aren't good). The same doesn't happen after 6. Kf1 white's score stays pretty poor. This implies that white should take the material as the best chance is that black runs out of pieces to attack with.

After 5...Bxf2+ 6.Kxf2 Nxe4+ Black has 2 moves

1) 7.Kg1 Qh4 8.g3 Nxg3 9.Nxh8 Nd4!

when 10.hxg3! is the best move leading the a draw by perpetual check.

2) 7.Ke3 (wild move) Black here play either 7...Qe7 or 7...Qh4 both variations giving an unclear game.

Can't be comfortable for White to play OTB......seems like Black is having all the fun to me.

5.Bxf7+ is not nearly as interesting but probably White's best move. Lots of the Nxf7 lines are too wild and don't really give White any concrete advantage.

I finally had the balls to play it in an OTB match last night..............the shock on my opponents face (OTB rating 1700) was amazing!!! He played Bxf7+ line folowed by Bb3.........got a great position from the opening.....eventually got the bishop pair for rook and pawn....but couldn't convert...DRAW.

I will be playing it agin in the future!!!!!
