If you people would EMBRACE computer aided chess, you'd watch your real life chess playing ability DRAMATICALLY improve. As I said before, you AINT gonna learn anything by playing your little sister. You will NOT improve if you play some guy who is years ahead of you in skill and he just mops the board with you, time and time again.

You need FEEDBACK. You need to watch an engine vs engine match and then have the engines ANALYZE the game for you. Fritz and chessmaster have great analyzation features. In the last 15 years, I have probably watched TENS OF THOUSANDS of Fritz vs Chessmaster matches and had both of them analyze the games and TALK about why they moved the moves the did. You are not going to get THAT from the guy who just punished you in 19 moves. TRUST ME.

Hey, if you're in it just for the fun, then who cares? I'm coming from the direction of you wanting to improve your skills.

Here is a website that I frequent ALL THE TIME. It has TONS of free computer chess engines to download. Many of them are capable of putting the hurt on Fritz and Chessmaster.

I think that accusations and news of cheaters is IRRELEVANT and actually should be considered SPAM on this site. The chess forum is for CHESS discussion, not for the LATEST cheaters.

In fact, I think this site would be a hell a-lot better if the WITCH-HUNTS stopped! Who CARES if you play an engine user? Chance ...[text shortened]... ot of SUBSTANCE in this chess forum, compared to other forums I am seeing on different sites.
What sucks is when you're trying to do something like win a Clan League, and some team stocked full of engine-using cheaters runs away with it instead.

That sort of result makes about as much sense as allowing cars to compete in and win a footrace.

Isn't there something ironic about a poster with the handle "Cheater1" complaining about too much talk about cheating? And wasn't Cheater1's very first thread on this site about the fact that he was a cheater? My irony meter is off the scale here....

My thought about correspondence chess: One must assume that at least some of your opponent's are using an engine. That's just the way it is, IMO. Anyone who can't live with that fact should probably not play correspondence chess. And since there's really no way to know for sure if someone's using an engine, I think the use of an engine should be discouraged, but not against the rules.

GAYCHESSPLAYER, look at it this way. It's kinda like when some famous person goes out on the town and gets ACCOSTED by the paparazzi and then throws a temper tantrum and punches everyone in sight. They are famous, but HATE the attention.

So it is with me. There is no irony here. I'm not proud of what I do. I'm not condoning cheating (I like to call it computer aided chess). But what I see time and time again is people professing their hatred for cheating, but yet spend 80% of their time talking about it. THAT, my gay friend, is IRONY.

Why is it ironic to talk a lot about something that you hate? Civil rights advocates hate discrimination, and that's exactly why they talk about it so much. If one loves chess and hates people who degrade it by cheating, then what's ironic about talking about it? Sorry, but I don't see your point. Guess I'm a bit slow today. 😛
