Actually, not to be nit picky, that was a scholars mate he was trying. not a fools mate.

A fools mate is...
1. f3 f6
2. g4 Qh4#

Of course, I could be wrong. This is what I read in more than one place.

Thanks a lot for your advice guys. I play with a good teacher at school, and beleive it or not, he says that I don't protect my king very much. He says that I could try to improve protecting the king.

I think the problem with me is that I seem too busy attacking, rather than taking care of my king (which is what I should be doing!)

He is right 🙂 2...f6 exposes your king to checks and potential mates.

But we talked about this already. Learn from that mistake and move on.
